The Girl & The Fig

The Girl & The Fig features a wonderful antique bar with French aperitifs, unique and traditional cocktails, an award-winning Rhône-Alone wine list, a seasonal menu, cheese & charcuterie platters, and outdoor garden patio seating.  Located in the "downtown" area of Sonoma, we dined here for our first night out.

The place is quite popular, but we made reservations well in advance and were seated at a cozy table outside on the patio.  We ordered a bottled of 2015 Vadasz Vineyard Syrah by Muscardini, from here in Sonoma Valley.  It was bold yet elegant and paired well with our dinner.

To start, we shared the Duck Liver Mousse served with fig jam and brioche toast.  The mousse was velvety smooth and full of flavor.  We enjoyed this dish very much.

For my main, I ordered the Pastis-scented Steamed Mussels & Frites.  The aromas of garlic, leeks, and herbs were classic and hypnotic.

Keith ordered the Heritage Pork Chop served with crispy fingerling potatoes, cipollini onions, caramelized figs, and pickled mustard seed.

Lastly, we ordered dessert and shared the Profiteroles stuffed with vanilla ice cream and drizzled with chocolate sauce.  It was a perfect summer dessert.

The Girl & The Fig serves "country food with a French passion".  I loved all the food and the friendly service and fun local vibe.  The menu changes frequently with the seasons, so I would love to dine here again.
