Lineage

Lineage is a dining experience in Wailea, Maui where you can "eat, drink, and talk story". Built around family get togethers, celebrating the diversity of natural ingredients and a cooking style that embodies Maui cuisine, the impressive culinary duo of Chefs Emmanuel Eng and Nelson Simpliciano bring creativity and family traditions to the restaurant with innovative Asian-American cuisine.

Located in an upscale shopping center, we had reservations and were seated in one of the outdoor tables.  I ordered the Lineage Paloma made with Patron Reposado Lineage Barrel, Aperol, Giffard Pamplemousse, Grapefruit Oleo, Lime, Lihing Mui, Peychauds, and Fever Tree Tonic Water.  It was very refreshing and served in a cute ceramic cup that stay cool throughout the whole meal.

To start, we shared the Crispy Shrimp & Scallop Toast.  Kauai shrimp and scallops filled Japanese milk bread slices and were served with a spicy XO lemon aioli.  These were very tasty and while the sauce had a kick, it was addictive.

For my main dish, I ate the Black Pepper Crab Fried Rice.  Tossed with house soy, corn, green onion, egg, and dashi this rice dish was peppery and plentiful.

Keith indulged in the Wagyu Kalbi Short Rib.  Served with roasted bone marrow, garlic rice, seasonal vegetables, and "kudeesh" finadene - this dish was decadent and enough for two people to share.

Lastly, we shared the "Mauka Road" Ice Cream Sundae.  Valrhona dark chocolate ice cream was topped with candied mac nut, mochi, and a coconut + white chocolate fudge sauce.  I loved it.

As a complimentary finish, we were also presented with Dragonfruit Sorbet.  This was tart and sweet and a nice palate cleanser.

All in all we had a nice meal at Lineage.  Many items stood out on the menu and the shared plates concept is great for groups.
