Danielle's Desserts

*Sponsored Post
Danielle's Desserts is the only establishment in the DMV that specializes in rich "home-baked" American Southern-style Desserts. Their goal is to transport customers to a time when all desserts were made from scratch and from the finest ingredients.  With a location in Tyson's Corner since 2010, Danielle Poux just opened her second location in Dupont Circle and asked us to stop by.

The cafe showcases 57+ flavors of cakes, pies, cupcakes, cookies, and bars - all made in-house. The dessert café provides guests with a warm and inviting atmosphere to indulge in the taste. We sampled a variety of cakes and pies.

Favorites included the Coconut Pineapple - a tropical twist; Southern Caramel - three moist yellow cake layers smothered in a rich caramel frosting flavored with just the right amount of brown sugar and butter; Strawberries N' Cream - fresh strawberries blended throughout cake layers and frosting, giving you a mouthful of strawberry flavor in each bite; and Triple Chocolate Fudge - three velvety chocolate cake layers topped with a rich chocolate frosting with miniature chocolate chips toppings to give it that triple chocolate punch.

Try the Southern pie classics like Sweet Potato Pie, Pecan Coconut Chocolate Chip, and Lemon Chess Pie.  Keith loved the Lemon Chess with that smooth custard consistency and bright lemon punch.

Other smaller snacks like cupcakes, cookies, and bars are also available.  I liked the Chewy Cherry Bars - the combination of cherries, coconut, vanilla chips, and almond flavoring in these bars makes them irresistible.

Pre-ordering and desserts are available to go. Whole cakes are available with 24 hour notice.  The Dupont Circle shop hours are Mon - Fri: 8 am - 7 pm, Sat: 10 am - 6 pm, Sun: Closed.
