Bar Charley

Bar Charley was opened six years ago by Jackie Greenbaum and Gordon Banks who told the Washington Post "they opened the watering hole on 18th Street NW for lack of a smart place to eat and drink well that didn't cost an arm and a leg."  Now, the "dark little steakhouse" features six cuts of meat on the menu when Sundays they are half price when you buy a bottle of wine or a scorpion bowl. Happy Gyro

Happy Gyro is a month-long pop-up at Komi that offers a $60 prixe fix menu of seven-ish dishes, all made out of vegetables. One is a gyro, naturally, yet made with no meat. A $50 drink pairing is also available. Reservations are available until July 6, 2019. Closest Metro is Dupont Circle.

Sushi Taro underwent a makeover in late 2008 when Chef Nobu Yamazaki wanted to "change the direction of Japanese cooking in this city". Located upstairs from a CVS store, Sushi Taro is notably the finest source of sushi in Washington with an alluring setting in which to admire it. The only restaurant to offer Kaiseki, "a traditional dining experience that combines the elegance of Japan's ancient courtly cuisine with the simplicity of Buddhist temple fare", Sushi Taro is a hidden gem and deserves credit as one of DC's finest restaurants. GBD

Golden Brown Delicious Fried Chicken and Doughnuts, aka GBD, is a casual and lively neighborhood spot near Dupont Circle that pulls triple duty serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Recently The Well Dressed Burrito invited Micky to come by and try one of their famous burritos but it's pretty tough for her to get out of work for lunch so she asked me to stop by. I've been hearing about this place for years, but somehow was never able to get there until this past Friday. Located just south of Dupont Circle in an alley off 19th St NW between M St and N St, this lunch-only Mexican spot has a rotating menu of fusion burritos and Mexican staples.

Agora Presents Raki Gecesi (Raki Night)

Agora, known for its alluring Mediterranean cuisine, will host a traditional Turkish gathering known as Raki Gecesi or Raki Night, complete with live Turkish music on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 8:30pm.  Priced at $80 per person, all inclusive, the menu will consist of five courses prepared Executive Chef Ghassan Jarrouj along with unlimited amount of Turkish Raki, Turkish red or white wine, or Efes beer. Little Serow

Little Serow (rhymes with arrow) serves a family-style dinner of northern and northeastern Thai dishes for $45 per person.
