Bar Charley

Bar Charley was opened six years ago by Jackie Greenbaum and Gordon Banks who told the Washington Post "they opened the watering hole on 18th Street NW for lack of a smart place to eat and drink well that didn't cost an arm and a leg."  Now, the "dark little steakhouse" features six cuts of meat on the menu when Sundays they are half price when you buy a bottle of wine or a scorpion bowl. Happy Gyro

Happy Gyro is a month-long pop-up at Komi that offers a $60 prixe fix menu of seven-ish dishes, all made out of vegetables. One is a gyro, naturally, yet made with no meat. A $50 drink pairing is also available. Reservations are available until July 6, 2019. Closest Metro is Dupont Circle.

Danielle's Desserts is the only establishment in the DMV that specializes in rich "home-baked" American Southern-style Desserts. The Pig

The Pig, located in Logan Circle, is a nose-to-tail restaurant featuring a menu that blends a culinary experience in American Southern with influences from Italian and Asian cooking. Whole pigs are crucial to the menu’s philosophy and are sourced from Eco Friendly Farms in Virginia. Dacha Beer Garden

Dacha Beer Garden located in the Shaw neighborhood offers an inviting smoke-free garden setting with a carefully curated selection of world-class German, Belgian, and American craft beers along with wines, meads, ciders and other refreshments. The food menu gets its inspiration from traditional Bavarian beer gardens – hardy and tasty, but falls short with execution.  Closest Metro is Dupont Circle.

Sushi Taro

Sushi Taro underwent a makeover in late 2008 when Chef Nobu Yamazaki wanted to "change the direction of Japanese cooking in this city". Located upstairs from a CVS store, Sushi Taro is notably the finest source of sushi in Washington with an alluring setting in which to admire it. The only restaurant to offer Kaiseki, "a traditional dining experience that combines the elegance of Japan's ancient courtly cuisine with the simplicity of Buddhist temple fare", Sushi Taro is a hidden gem and deserves credit as one of DC's finest restaurants. GBD

Golden Brown Delicious Fried Chicken and Doughnuts, aka GBD, is a casual and lively neighborhood spot near Dupont Circle that pulls triple duty serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. Ranging from the traditional vanilla glaze to the more gourmet grapefruit-campari old fashion, GBD has a doughnut for every craving. Chef Kyle Bailey's fried chicken and menu of sides take center stage at lunchtime, while the evening presents an expanded dinner and snack menu with plenty of odds & ends for sharing. GBD also serves as a destination for craft beer, fantastic wines and one-of-a-kind specialty punches in the evening. Closest Metro is Dupont Circle.

Obelisk

Obelisk a small restaurant serving Italian food in Dupont Circle since the summer of 1987.  The five course hand-written mean changes daily, and is set at $75 per person with a wine pairing option for an additional $50 during the week, and $85/$55 respectively on weekends.  Closest Metro is Dupont Circle.

Iron Gate

Iron Gate offers modern American cuisine influenced by Italian and Greek flavors from Chef Tony Chittum. Built in 1875, the Iron Gate has seen a number of identities including a Civil War stable, inn, and two restaurants.  Reopened in November 2013, Iron Gate is a historical, romantic space with a rear formal dining room - with a tasting menu, red leather banquettes and fireplace - and a more relaxed vaulted carriageway, preceded by giant lanterns and home to a long bar.  Closest Metro is Dupont Circle.

The Manor DC

The Manor DC, located in the heart of Dupont Circle brings glitz, glamour and the most talented DJ's to cozy up with in your very own loft hideaway. This restaurant/lounge by day transforms to a modern, sleek nightclub by night. The Well Dressed Burrito

Recently The Well Dressed Burrito invited Micky to come by and try one of their famous burritos but it's pretty tough for her to get out of work for lunch so she asked me to stop by. I've been hearing about this place for years, but somehow was never able to get there until this past Friday. Located just south of Dupont Circle in an alley off 19th St NW between M St and N St, this lunch-only Mexican spot has a rotating menu of fusion burritos and Mexican staples.

According to Slavic legend, Mari Vanna was a fairytale grandmother known to welcome hungry travelers into her house. Agora Presents Raki Gecesi (Raki Night)

Agora, known for its alluring Mediterranean cuisine, will host a traditional Turkish gathering known as Raki Gecesi or Raki Night, complete with live Turkish music on Friday, August 16, 2013 at 8:30pm.  Priced at $80 per person, all inclusive, the menu will consist of five courses prepared Executive Chef Ghassan Jarrouj along with unlimited amount of Turkish Raki, Turkish red or white wine, or Efes beer. Limited seating is available and reservations are recommended (contact events @agoradc.net).

Little Serow

Little Serow (rhymes with arrow) serves a family-style dinner of northern and northeastern Thai dishes for $45 per person. The week's seven-course menu is posted online each Tuesday to give diners a heads up since substitutions are unavailable.  Walk-ins only, so be prepared to wait in line for a couple hours in order to snag a seat.  Be warned - if you cannot handle spicy food, this place is not for you.  Closest Metro is Dupont Circle.
