Rooster & Owl

Rooster & Owl is inspired by its co-founders, husband and wife team Yuan and Carey Tang who had opposite work schedules but always came together around food and dining adventures. Rooster & Owl brings a social, shared dining experience, and is dedicated to the craft of the culinary arts and market-driven cuisine. Experience the thrill of fine dining in a comfortable, customizable environment with a build-your-own 4-course meal for $65 per person, to be enjoyed with the table. Maydān

Maydān tells the story of owner Rose Previte's travels, from Tangier to Tehran and Batumi to Beirut and brings the communal "town square" to DC.  Featuring dips, spreads, salads, condiments, roasted and grilled meats, and seafood coming together in unison, the centerpiece of every table is the bread.  Made to order in Maydān’s clay ovens, the bread brings the meal together and bread brings people together. Declaration

Declaration restaurant in DC’s Shaw neighborhood offers high quality gourmet pizza with gluten-free and vegetarian options. Oohhs & Aahhs has consistently received the "Cheap Eats Award" and the "Best Macaroni and Cheese" awarded by Washingtonian Magazine. DC Noodles

Originally designed to offer an Asian fusion menu, DC Noodles is an authentic Thai restaurant that blends a sophisticated menu with a neighborhood attitude and a community spirit.  The menu offers noodles in a variety of ways: as part of a sizzling stir-fry, a spicy soup, or in a zesty salad.  After a year and a half of being closing for construction, the restaurant re-opened in December 2013, and we were invited to check out the new menu by Chef Zatang.  Closest Metro is U Street.

Kapnos

Chef Mike Isabella draws inspiration from Northern Greece to create a menu of spreads, breads, vegetables and other small plates, including his signature wood-grilled octopus at his newest restaurant, Kapnos. Two wood-fire grills with rotating spits and a large oven for stone-baked flat breads service the 160-seat restaurant. Guests enjoy carvings from whole animals that have been spit-roasted all day, including lamb, goat, duck, chicken, and suckling pig.  Closest Metro is U Street.

G Tasting by Mike Isabella

Known as a sandwich shop by day and offering a more formal four course tasting menu at night, we recently dined at G by Mike Isabella for his take on an Italian-American holiday meal called the "Feast of the Seven Fishes." New Restaurant Alert: Lupe Verde

Med Lahlou and Antonio Matarazzo of the Lalou Group are pleased to announce the December 16th anticipated opening of their new Italian concept, Lupo Verde. The intimate 100-seat restaurant, which translates to “green wolf”, will serve authentic, rustic, Italian fare in the bustling 14th Street neighborhood at 1401 T Street, NW, 20009. This is the Lalou Group’s forth concept in Washington as the restaurant group owns Ulah Bistro, Tunnicliff's Tavern and Station 4 on the Southwest Waterfront. Lupo Verde will open serving dinner nightly, from 5 PM to 11 PM. Guests will also be able to enjoy late night hours Sunday through Thursday, from 11 PM to 2 AM, and Friday and Saturday, from 11 PM to 3 AM.
