Keith and I were in the area to see a concert and decided to stop in to American Ice Co for dinner beforehand. We walked through the front open air patio area with many picnic tables and heat lamps, adorned with festive Christmas lights. There were many people seated outside, so we chose to sit inside at one of the booths.
I wasn't that hungry, so decided to order something light and chose the Salad made with iceberg lettuce, sauteed brussels sprouts and green squash, then topped with feta and served with a garlic vinaigrette. The salad was pretty tasty, and I especially liked the sauteed brussels sprouts and zucchini. To go with my salad, I ordered an Old Dominion Root Beer served cold in the bottle. The soda is made with real honey that added extra sweetness.
Keith ordered the Pork & Brisket Combo which came with beans and cole slaw, as well as a pickle and some extra sweet barbeque sauce on the side. A spicier sauce was already available on the table. The pork was pretty flavorful, but the brisket was slightly dry. Along with it, he ordered a side of corn bread. It had specks of jalapeno in it, and was nice and sweet.
While our food came out fast, and our server was pretty attentive with drinks, it was a bit confusing when we arrived as no one was at the front to greet us. After a while, we just sat ourselves. Many local beers were available and there are two large screen tvs showing football games, so I could see the appeal of this low key joint.
