muu Steakhouse

muu Steakhouse is a modern steakhouse in Porto, Portugal.  There are limited seats, so reservations are recommended and note the restaurant doesn't open until 7:30pm.  I was not feeling great one night during our trip, so Keith went solo for dinner and satisfied his meat craving here.

As a welcome, they presented Keith with an amuse bouche of a meat croquette with various aiolis and butters and a couple slices of grilled bread.

To start, Keith ordered the Johnny's Scotch - a boiled egg surrounded by a crunchy composition of meats, served with brussel sprouts, shallot puree, meat jus, and chard.  It was good, but a bit similar to the amuse bouche.

For the main course, he ordered the El Txuleton (rib steak from a very mature cow) made popular in the Basque region of Spain. Enveloped in fat, the meat was tough with intense beef flavor. "It was good to try something different that you can't really find in the States, but not sure I would order it again."

The staff were all impressed with Keith's attempt to eat all.the.meat.  He ordered a couple different glasses of local red wine to accompany his meal, and overall had a very decent evening by himself.
