Last date I was here: 12/20/2008

Restaurant: Nage (

Location: Dupont Circle

Total Rating: 3.75
Food: 4, Price: 3, Service: 4, Ambience: 3, Accessibility: 5

Summary: Located on Scott Circle in the Marriott Courtyard Embassy Row, Nage claims to offer “Food Excellence in a Casual Eatery Environment”. Closest Metro is Dupont Circle.

At first impression, the atmosphere was a little cold and small, despite the warm red colors of décor. Maybe it was due to the fact that the place was in a hotel and pretty empty due to the holidays, but our booth seat was alright. The wait staff were friendly and seemed to not mind our lingering since it was a cold and slow night ofr them. The menu was a mix of French and Eurasian flair, with specials written on a chalk board by the door. The appetizers were a little disappointing, but the entrees were a great satisfying portion and very flavorful. I really enjoyed my swordfish – one of best I’ve ever had. We were too full to enjoy dessert, but the choices looked intriguing Undecided if I would hike back to dine here again, but I would recommend it for those in the area.

What I ate:

Ricotta and Spinach Napoleon
Fresh ricotta cheese, spinach, and sun-dried tomato paste served in layers of phillo dough
Served with balsamic oil dressing

Grilled Swordfish
Served with Mussels, Shrimp, pancetta, apples in a buttery sauce

Plus Keith ate:
Tuna Poke
Sashimi grade tuna marinated in soy and sesame
Served with grilled pineapple

Pork Cutlet
Breaded with mustard and pretzels and fried (schnitzel style)
Served with spinach and a turnip and parsnip puree
