What Micky Eats...

Summary: Blue Duck Tavern is located within the Park Hyatt in the downtown area and serves American cuisine using traditional methods such as roasting and braising. Decorated with dark oak woods and burlap, the atmosphere is rustic chic and offers a warm dining experience. Closest Metro is Foggy Bottom.

We went to Blue Duck Tavern to celebrate Keith's birthday and the service was efficient with their two-man approach. The fresh bread that arrived was chewy but would have been nicer if it was warm and if the ice cold butter was more room temperature. The staff was very attentive and timed each course perfectly. Keith especially liked that they offered both of us to taste the bottle of wine we ordered (generally, they only allow the man to taste even though I usually pick it). The appetizers seemed to be generously portioned yet I felt the sides were a little overpriced. My entree was cooked perfectly and had very interesting fresh flavors. All in all, Blue Duck Tavern provided a satisfying meal and overall experience. However, it was not the best we have had in the city.

What I ate:

Olive Oil Poached Escolar
Fresh white fish from Honolulu, Hawaii
served with fresh apples and braised chickory

Hand Cut BDT Triple Fries
served with garlic aiole sauce

Braised Leaks
with mandarin segments and bacon

Flourless Chocolate Chiboust Cake
with Rice Crispies treat and chocolate hazelnut cream

Plus Keith ate:

Oven Roasted Bone Marrow
with sea urchin crust and country bread

Braised Beef Rib
with homemade steak sauce

UPDATE: This restaurant was awarded one Michelin star in October 2016.
