I have been to this local cupcake shop before - once in 2010 when Keith and I were shopping for our wedding cupcakes and a second time in 2011 to pick up a dozen cupcakes that I purchased in support of a charity fundraiser. We did not pick them for our wedding because I really wanted red velvet - and Hello Cupcake simply does not do red velvet. The dozen that I picked up last year I shared with my parents, and remember that all the flavors were a big hit especially Gianduja - the hazelnut chocolate cake topped with hazelnut chocolate ganache and caramelized hazelnut crunch. My favorites were 24 Carrot and surprisingly You Tart - a delightful lemon cake with lemon cream cheese frosting. At $3.25 per cupcake, the price is average compared to other cupcakeries (Crumbs = $4.50 each whereas Georgetown Cupcakes = $2.75 each), yet the presentation and flavors are above the bar. I was lucky to be able to sample Hello Cupcake again this Valentine's Day and received a half dozen of their cupcakes, including the special Chocolate Covered Strawberry cupcake. So pretty and perfect for Valentine's Day! The strawberry cake itself was a pretty pink color and moist with subtle fruit flavor. The chocolate ganache top was a little crunchy - perhaps from sitting out all day. I also picked out a couple of my favorites and a Peanut Butter Blossom for Keith.

Overall, Hello Cupcake has some of the better cupcakes in the area. Between them and The Sweet Lobby being in my neighborhood - Hello Cupcake is one of my go-to shops for these delicious sweet treats.
