Al Gusto

On this Saturday, Keith and I took a private boat tour to the island of Capri.  The ride took about 45 minutes from Positano, and we stopped at a few grottos along the way and were able to swim in the clear blue water.  Then, we were dropped off at the marina and had a few hours to explore the island ourselves before returning back to the main land.  We took the funicular up the mountain and had lunch at Al Gusto.

We had a lovely table right on the edge with a stunning view below.  The restaurant is on the main drag, a perfect spot for tourists, with a very approachable menu of classic seafood items and some pizza and pasta dishes.

We shared an order of the Fried Calamari and Shrimps.  Served simply with a wedge of lemon, the calamari was meaty and the shrimps were fully shelled with heads and tails still on, which made it a little difficult to eat.  Nevertheless, it was a good enough portion to share.

The Classico Calzone caught my eye.  Filled with ricotta, mozzarella, ham, and mushrooms, this rendition was more like a thin crust pizza that was folded over in half.  We didn't mind though, as the dough was chewy and the sauce on top though looks scarce in the picture, was just the right amount.

Overall, we had a nice lunch with an impeccable view in Capri.  The only downside was the over priced items due to its tourist location.
