Our server brought over two red wines she wanted to recommend and after letting us taste both, we settled on the 2018 Bergstrom, ‘Gargantua-Pantagruel’; Syrah. It was divine - bursting with black raspberries, black olive tapenade, savory herbs, a hint of Chinese five spice, and dark chocolate. It was well balanced and so easy to drink. Mind you - we had visited a couple wineries already, including Bergstrom, so may have been easy to please.
A starter that caught my eye were the local Clams served with pancetta in a garlic, cream, and white wine broth. It came with buttery toast that I used to soak up the broth and devoured. We loved this dish so much, as evidenced by Keith's extra artsy snaps to document the experience.
For my main course, I ordered the Risotto served with seasonal vegetables and microgreens. I liked the chunks of zucchini and the rice was filling, which helped soak up the wine.
Keith craved the Steak Frites. A pan-seared 12 oz. ribeye was topped with bleu cheese crumbles and served with a demi glacé. The steak paired perfectly with the red wine.
Overall, we had a wonderful meal with fantastic service. We could see why the locals highly rave about Trellis!
