We ordered a bottle of 2018 Brandborg, Pinot Noir from Elkton, OR. The medium-light bodied red wine was fruit forward with cherry and plum.
To brighten things up, we also ate the Fluke Crudo which was bright and citrusy with Meyer lemon, Easter egg radish, cucumber, and a small drizzle of chili oil.
For his main dish, Keith ordered The Duck & The Pomegranate. Seared duck breast and confit leg, over black radish puree, was served with a small salad of arugula and pomegranate agrodulce. The duck was plentiful and cooked nicely. We were happy to get the restaurant's namesake, even with the seasonal fruit swap.
I was feeling like eating something a bit lighter and ordered the side of Ratatouille as my main dish. Sliced heirloom squash, Japanese eggplant, tomatoes and peppers were layered and baked with a tomato sauce and pesto oil. It had a very Italian flare, but was very tasty and satisfying.
Overall, we had a decent meal at a nearby restaurant. Service was a bit inexperienced and flat, but respectful and timely. With such a small menu, I am curious to see how it changes more with the season.
