Perhaps we should thank our sputtering economy for the rise in popularity of Bring Your Own Bottle (BYOB) in Washington, D.C. It’s one restaurant policy with some pretty obvious pluses. Not only does bringing your own bottle guarantee you’ll be drinking something you like, it will also save you some dough. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or just a casual night out, dust off that special bottle and toast to free corkage!
Enjoy your selection at its finest amongst good company and great food with crystal stemware and decanters available at many restaurants. Here is just a selection of DC restaurants that offer free wine corkage throughout the week:

Others allow you to BYOB for a small fee, usually $20 or less. Restaurants include: Belga Cafe, Clyde's, Kellari Taverna, and Urbana. Depending on the variety, it might still be worth it to bring your own. Especially if you are dining with a large group. A good tip is to call ahead to verify the exact corkage fee and if there are any bottle limits. Some places also allow you bring your own liquor or beer, while others prefer you to not bring anything that they already carry in house. There are many restaurants that offer BYOB, so inquire at your favorite spot the next time you make reservations. Cheers!
