At Home: Seafood Pancake

This next installment of What Micky Eats...At Home features one of my mother's traditional recipes.  My mother, Sunny, brought these recipes with her from Korea in 1977.  They are some family favorites that she has made over the years.  Here, I share the Hae Mul Pa Jun (Seafood Pancake).  I often ate a vegetable version of the pancake when I was a young child. It is a nice savory twist on the traditional pancake.

Sunny's Hae Mul Pa Jun (Seafood Pancake)
  • 1 cup of CJ Korean Pancake Mix
  • 1-2 cups any kind of seafood (shrimp, calamari, oyster, scallop, etc)
  • ½ cup green onions and mushrooms, finely chopped
  • ½ cup carrots, shredded
  • 2-3 Tbsp vegetable oil
- Mix the pancake mix with 3/4 cup water, until there are no lumps.
- Add in the vegetables and seafood. Mix well until combined.
- Add vegetable oil into a preheated frying pan.
- Use ladle to scoop pancake batter into pan, cook until golden brown.
- Make sure to flip to other side, cook until golden brown.
- Serve with soy sauce.
