While soaking up rays at the beach, we were hungry for lunch yet wanted a break from seafood. We walked towards the northern part of the island and were lured by the smell of garlic emanating from Vinny & Cheryl's Italian Kitchen. The inside is fairly small and presumably "Vinny" was busy preparing a pizza. There is a menu on a dry erase board outside the door, so we took a look at the sandwich offerings and decided to order the Very Incredible Panini or V.I.P. There were two sizes: regular or large, so we chose the large to share. After 15 minutes or so the sandwich was ready - and boy was I shocked to see the hefty size. It could easily feed 4 people. The server looked at me and jokingly asked if I was ready to eat all of it. They could tell by my reaction that I was not expecting this large size and commented that they would happily wrap up whatever we did not finish. Filled with prosciutto, capacola, Genoa salami, and some other Italian meats plus lettuce, tomato, and provolone with balsamic vinegar and olive oil., this sandwich was built on super fresh rustic Italian bread.
Many gluten-free pizza and entree options also available and catering/take-out are the main draws to this Italian Kitchen. Many locals popped in for a box of pastries to take away. There are a couple tables outside on the sidewalk, but it appears most get their orders to-go. When looking for a break from seafood and in need of some quality Italian products, check out Vinny & Cheryl's Italian Kitchen.
