Piazza Beer Garden typically rotates new beers each week featuring breweries from DC, Maryland and Virginia. Today, three world beers were also available for sampling including: DC Brau Corruption (U.S.), Franzeskaner Weissbier (Germany), and Murphy's Stout (Ireland).
Brandon Skull described each beer that was featured. He explained the Corruption is a single hop IPA with subtle hints of vidalia onion to bring out that earthiness. It contrasted with the sweeter wheat beer from Franzeskaner and the smoky dark stout from Murphy's.
We also sampled Arancini Rice Balls filled with vegetables and melted fontina cheese, meatballs, polenta fries, and Margherita pizza. They were great "bar bites" to accompany the beer options.
Piazza Beer Garden is a concept born from the idea that all things are meant to be enjoyed and brings the essence of an Italian beer garden to Bethesda's community. Showcasing unique local beers and tasty food – all the while going green, sustainable and local – Piazza Beer Garden is a charming hidden gem.
