I walked over one morning to pick up breakfast and decided to get a half dozen mix of Salted, Everything, and Sweet that are glazed with cinnamon sugar. Other dips are available for $1 each including mustards, cream cheese, and nutella.
I liked the sweet pretzels, as they tasted like donuts, but had much more chew-factor. The everything pretzels were a great with cream cheese and a nice alternative to bagels.
The long line was a little more than I expected right at 9am, but it went fast. It seemed everyone wanted one of the new Breakfast Sliders for $3. Naturally, I had to get a few myself. This small sandwich of egg, cheese, and bacon on an everything pretzel roll recently won Washington City Paper's "Best Breakfast Sandwich 2014", and it was totally deserving. This little slider was the perfect bite to start off the morning, and the owner, Sean Haney, says he "goes through about 12 to 14 dozen breakfast sliders on any given Saturday or Sunday, and he generally runs out by the early afternoon." So check Facebook or Twitter for available daily stock.
Fresh coffees, ice teas and water ices are also available. Other specials have included a pretzel dog that was a hit over the Fourth of July weekend. But the humble pretzels are the real star, and a welcomed staple of the neighborhood.
