The Crab Bag

The Crab Bag is Ocean City's finest Eastern Shore style seafood house specializing in preparing and serving the biggest and the best blue crabs available. All of the crabs are selected and graded by hand for its size and weight. The most popular item is the all-you-can-eat "feast"option.  Be prepared to wait a while, as the place is very popular.

One cannot visit Maryland in the Summer without eating blue crabs.  Keith decided on CRAB FEAST #2, with all-you-can-eat hot steamed crabs, Baby Back Ribs and Crab Bag Famous Wings.  The feast also comes with fries, cole slaw, and corn.  The menu noted that steam time can take up to 30 minutes, but his feast came out right away.  For $47, this seemed like a good deal at first, yet breaking down the crabs is so tedious and time consuming, that I am not sure it's worth it.  Nevertheless, Keith had a great time pounding away with his mallet and using a plastic knife to scrape every last bit of sweet crab meat out of the shells.

I don't like to work that hard for my food - ha! - so I ordered the Fresh Lump Crab Cake instead.  Made with pure, fresh jumbo lump crab meat, the cake was delicately seasoned in the Eastern Shore style, broiled to perfection, and served with tartar sauce. I also chose sides of cole slaw and fries.

Though crowded, the restaurant is quite large with several levels and an outdoor patio.  Our server was super friendly and attentive.  The Crab Bag is a great place for large groups to gather over some steamed crabs and pitchers of beer.
