Lockhart Smokehouse

Lockhart Smokehouse in the Bishop Arts District of Dallas serves great smoked meat classics. The brisket, sausage, ribs and other meats are smoked over Texas post oak. Updated versions of classic southern sides and some Schmidt family favorites round out the menu.

The counter is at the back of the restaurant next to the smoker. The meat is pulled off the smoker and sliced specifically for your order. They charge by the half pound, but you don't have to order a full half pound. You can order two slices of brisket... one rib, it's up to you. If you aren't sure what you want just ask the "Texas-friendly" guy behind the counter with the knife for a bite. He will be happy to oblige. After you order and take your food (all meat is wrapped in butcher paper), grab a seat wherever you like or belly up to the bar for a cold beer.

Keith asked for fatty cuts of Brisket and a couple of dry rubbed Spare Ribs, smoked to perfection.  He also got a large side of creamy mac n' cheese. Pickles, onions, bread and crackers are available free of charge with every order.

Keith loved this barbeque - full of flavor, with a bit of spice and tang. The meat was tender and the service was to the point. A great pit stop in an artsy district for Texas barbeque while in Dallas.
