For a starter, we shared the Semolina Dusted Calamari served with marinara and lemon aioli. They were cooked lightly and were very tender.
Keith also ordered the Tomato Braised Meatballs. The were a very tasty blend of various meats.
For his main course, Keith ordered another classic dish - Chicken Parmesan. Served with a side of spaghetti marinara, he thought this was a good test for a true "red sauce joint". The portion was huge, and the chicken itself was cooked well but had a slight bitter taste to it. I liked the red sauce - not too sweet as other places tend to go.
I ordered the Ravioli alla Genovese - ricotta & herb filled ravioli in a pesto cream sauce
with toasted pignolis. This dish was packed with flavor and had a nice balance of salt.
Lastly, though the desserts were tempting, we decided to order drinks. The house Negroni featuring lemon gin for Keith and a small housemade Orangecello for me. Both drinks were strong but hit the spot.
Service was excellent - very inviting, attentive, and the food was paced perfectly. We will definitely be returning to try all the other items on the menu. I can't wait to bring my parents here - they would love it!
