La Salette located in Sonoma's historic plaza offers New Portuguese cuisine celebrates the varied and complex flavors of Chef Manuel Azevedo's native Portuguese homeland while adapting them to the immense offerings of top-quality ingredients from his current home in California.
For our last dinner in Sonoma Valley, we chose La Salette and sadly, decided to forgo any wine as we had to wake up super early to catch our flight home. We sat outside in the small courtyard and shared the
Wood Oven Roasted Octopus as a starter. Served on top of sweet onion puree with red wine vinegar and fried potato, the octopus was quite tender.
I wasn't that hungry, so ordered the Day Boat Scallops which were crusted in Chouriço and then seared in the wood oven. Served on top of Japanese sweet potato puree, leek confit, and molho cru - there was a touch of spice to this dish. The scallops were large and sweet and cooked perfectly.
Keith opted for the Brazilian national dish - Feijoada Completa. Stewed beef, pork, smoked sausage, and black beans were served with rice in this humble but tasty dish.
All in the all, we had a nice meal and enviously saw other tables enjoying the various wine flights to go with their meal. Maybe next time.
