We were able to walk to this restaurant from our hotel and were happy we made reservations ahead of time, because there was a long line waiting to get in. We were seated at a table with a great view of the walkway in front of the beach, with our feet in the sand and could hear the live band playing. We started with tropical cocktails - a Lava Flow for me made with fresh piƱa colada with an eruption of strawberry. Keith ordered the Lilikoi Mojito - an island style twist on a traditional mojito made with citrus vodka, lilikoi and house made mojito mix. They were both very tasty!
To start, we shared the Poke Tacos made with fresh ahi, shoyu, Maui onions, chili flakes, avocado, wasabi aioli. They were a great little bite to start off the meal.
Keith ordered the Coconut Seafood Chowder with lobster, shrimp, fresh fish, bok choy, shiitake mushrooms, peanuts in a coconut cilantro broth. This dish had such a Thai flare with so much fresh seafood. Served with rice, it ended up being quite satisfying.
I ordered the Wood Grilled Mahi Mahi served with sauteed local vegetables, surfing goat cheese, aged balsamic, and an interesting roasted red pepper romesco. The fish had a wonderful smoky wood char from the grill and was super fresh. I ate everything on my plate.
Overall, we had a great meal and the island vibes was very fun and laid back. The food showcased the cultural melting pot that is Hawaii.
