Mitch's Sushi Bar

Mitch's Sushi Bar serves the freshest fish in Hawaii, which is delivered directly off the airplane to the sushi bar, daily. With Mitch's supply of fresh fish and the remarkable skill of master chefs Masakazu Murakami, Shingo Luu and Il Han, your meal will be truly memorable.   Mitch’s does not have a liquor license, but you can BYOB.

Located in a warehouse near the airport, the restaurant may seem a bit dodgy but we were happy to explore the unknown for some high quality sushi.  One special stood out, so for an appetizer we ate the Ankimo (Monk Fish Liver).  It was silky and had the perfect balance of salty and sweetness.  This dish put me in a good mood.

Next, Keith just went for it and ordered a wide variety of fresh nigiri - from ahi to aji, we enjoyed every bite.  Each tasted super fresh from the sea.

We also tried some local tuna.  The color was a much lighter pink compared to the darker red of the Japanese ahi from the first set.  And Keith had to get the tamago - his favorite custardy egg nigiri, which he eats last as dessert.

Nevertheless, the sushi was top notch and service was welcoming and laid back- but be prepared to pay top dollar.
