Summary: Jordan's 8 presents itself as a sleek steakhouse and sushi restaurant along the popular Barracks Row. Having recently opened in 2008, Jordan’s 8 serves steaks prepared to order, traditionally seasoned and nicely priced – but don’t expect anything special. Recently, Jordan’s has added some great happy hour and daily specials to draw in the extra crowd. Closest Metro is Eastern Market.

We had tried this place when it first opened, and just went back – they lowered prices and slightly changed their menu, which now consists of small plates and large plates, with limited items that catch my eye. I decided to order some specialty sushi rolls from the upstairs bar area that they allowed to eat in the main dining room. Since Keith was ordering a steak, they did warn us that the timing of the two kitchens may not match, however the waitress did bring both meals at the same time. On the up side – Jordan’s is beautifully designed with a touch of East Asian simplicity and elegance: pebbled walls, hardwood floors and large framed mirrors. Also enjoy the many plasma-screen televisions behind the 40-foot white-quartz bar downstairs. Although the main dining area is pretty small, I have never had to wait long to be seated. On the down side – the non-serrated “steak” knives are very dull and cannot cut through the meat, causing you to tear threw it. Also the quality of the meat did not seem as good as when we first visited. Not sure if it has anything to do with the lower prices. Overall, this place is good for happy hours drinks and specials, but not my go to place for steak or sushi.

What I ate:

Jordan’s 8 roll
shrimp, crab, cucumber, avocado

Rainbow roll
avocado, cucumber, crab stick inside, tuna, salmon, white fish, shrimp
Lava Roll
shrimp tempura w/ shredded crab and wasabi-aioli sauce

Plus Keith ate:

NY Strip Steak Au Poive
12oz. New York Strip grilled and served w/ Herbed Fingerling Potatoes and Mixed Greens Salad
