The interior space was quite large and bustling, with patio seating as well. We sat inside and our server was friendly. We shared an appetizer of Fried Green Tomatoes with basil, goat cheese grits, and roasted red pepper coulis. The tomato slices were nice and thick with a crispy coating. The grits and pepper sauce were very tasty, and I enjoyed this dish very much.
For my main dish, I ordered the Avocado Toast & Eggs. The avocado was smashed on a thick slice of country bread and topped with farmer's cheese, Aleppo pepper, and a sriracha honey drizzle. My two eggs were scrambled with extra cheddar cheese and served with a salt-roasted beets & greens salad that was a little lackluster. With the heavier appetizer, I thought a "lighter" dish would be appropriate, but ended up being quite filling in itself.
Keith ordered the Fried Chicken & Biscuits with goodnight brothers country ham, milk gravy, and basil, then topped with an extra fried egg. The biscuits were very doughy and heavy. In hindsight, he wished he ordered the regular fried chicken dish instead to have more meat and less starch.
All in the all, the Southern food was a bit heavy in salt but the addition of herbs helped to brighten each dish. Service was fine, but the ambience was very loud and busy.
