Mina's Fish House

Inspired by the traditional fish houses of the Islands, Mina's Fish House combines the flavors and ingredients of the Hawaiian Islands with the culinary expertise of Michelin-starred Chef Michael Mina in a beautiful open-air, oceanfront setting in Ko'Olina, Oahu.

Located in the resort area nearby where we were staying, we went to Mina's Fish House for dinner on the beach.  We started with a bottle of 2019 Cliff Lede, Sauvignon Blanc, from Napa, California.  It was bright and tart and married well with all the seafood we were to eat.

We started with the Hamachi Crudo served with Crème Fraîche, Finger Lime, and Avocado.  It was super fresh and delicious.

As a warm appetizer, we shared the Grilled Octopus with Togarashi-Spiced Potatoes, Charred Scallion, and Miso Aïoli.  The octopus was tender and I liked the exotic flavors.

For my main dish, I ordered the Aromatic Steamed Mahi Mahi with Manila Clams, and Shrimp in a  Coconut-Coriander Sauce.  It was a classic dish with a very meaty fish and I loved every bit of it.

Keith ordered one of the fresh catches - dorade aka sea bream - prepared with Ginger & Scallion-Broiled Whole and served with Broccolini, Chinese Black Bean, and Garlic Fried Rice.   It was a large portion and Keith liked the Asian flare.

Instead of dessert, we ordered another round of drinks - a glass of sparkling rose for me and an Old Fashioned for Keith.  We enjoyed our table on the beach and even had a great view of fireworks from the Paradise Cove Luau nearby.  Service was refined and the seafood was top quality.
