At Home: Ahi Tuna Two Ways

To go along with the grilled clams we made, Keith also picked up a nice piece of fresh Ahi tuna.  Also known as yellowfin tuna, this fish is a premiere choice for sushi lovers as it has great flavor eaten raw.  Ahi tuna is great when seared or grilled, thus we present Ahi tuna two ways in this next installment of What Micky Eats...At Home.

At Home: Grilled Clams

With this gorgeous Spring weather we are having, Keith wanted to bust out the grill to use for dinner last night. We got a good deal on some seafood from Costco and decided to make our own version of one of my favorite dishes that we had in Majorca, Spain - grilled clams.  Chill a bottle of your favorite white wine and read this next installment of What Micky Eats...At Home.

Yechon

Looks can be misleading.  With its low-slung roof, brown wood siding, and neon signs, from the outside Yechon could pass for a cowboy bar, but is actually a traditional Korean & Japanese restaurant that is open 24 hours.  Inside, the room is bustling with costumed waitresses pouring beer and ladling soup, and a mixed crowd of animated diners, most of which are young, hip and Korean American.

At Home: Meatloaf Shepherd's Pie

One classic recipe that Keith makes is meatloaf.  The original recipe is from his father, but he has tweaked it to use ground turkey instead of equal parts of ground beef and ground pork.  The unique thing is the final presentation of the meatloaf that Keith's family has introduced me to.  It is their own twist on a shepherd's pie and I'd like to feature it here on What Micky Eats...At Home.

Cava

Cava is Greek mezze/wine bar/martini lounge that brings a little more upscale eating experience to Barracks Row.  Replacing the former Marty’s restaurant, prepare to indulge in unique Greek-inspired dishes served mezze style—in small plates, but with portions large enough to share. Cava’s mezze-style dining inspires conversation and laughter at the table. The dim candle-lighting and black and white family photos adorning Cava’s charming brick interior walls creates a dark and mysterious atmosphere that appears far from casual to the local patrons of Barracks Row. Closest Metro is Eastern Market.

Favorite Food Pictures of Winter 2012

My main goal for 2012 is to take more pictures of the food I eat at the many different restaurants I try throughout the year.  Even though I write about my food experiences and specifically list everything I eat, it is helpful to see a visual representation of the food first-hand.  And as collected in the WME 2012 Survey, the reader's seem to agree!  Here is a collection of my favorite food pictures from Winter 2012 (December - January - February).
