We were seated upstairs in the open balcony with gorgeous views overlooking the Old Town Walls. The outstanding service started right away, as we were offered cocktails before we were even seated. Keith ordered a gin & tonic while I ordered an Aperol Spritz. We sipped on these as we perused the menu - deciding to also order a bottle of Pošip, Kunjas, which was served right away.
As a cold appetizer, Keith ordered Steak Tartare prepared the chef's way, with various breads, whole garlic pieces and a large pile of grated butter. It was interesting, and Keith enjoyed it all.
Next, came out a large tray full of today's fresh catch. The presentation was amazing. Not only did we order a large sea bream to share for our main, we also ordered fresh Mediterranean Scallops to start. These were grilled nicely and served with a little risotto underneath the shells.
Once our
sea bream was grilled to perfection, the kitchen presented it before taking it back to debone and plate. The white fish was tender and meaty and had excellent light flavor. It was served with a basket of fresh vegetables that were seasoned with simple olive oil and salt. Though pricy - about $100, the fish was very fresh and the overall service was over the top.
Combined with romantic ambience, amazing view and world class food, we had a wonderful first dining experience in Dubrovnik.
