Taco Bamba
Taco Bamba is a takeout taqueria that reflects Chef Victor Albisu’s Cuban and Peruvian roots, and operates next to Plaza Latina in Falls Church, Virginia, a Latin market owned by his mother. On our drive home from Virginia wine country, Keith and I stopped by for lunch one day, and I was surprised by how packed the small shop was. Minimal seating is available inside, so most patrons took their order to-go.

District Taco
"In 2009, two neighbors got together over some homemade chips, salsa and guacamole and decided to launch District Taco as a food truck. District Taco has since grown and now operates multiple locations in and around Washington DC." Serving quality Mexican (Yucatan style) food that is fresh, simple and healthy, the restaurant's trademark is "Orale!" which roughly translates to "Right On!" I tried the newest location in Capitol Hill. Closest Metro is Eastern Market.

TaKorean

Restaurant: TaKorean (http://takorean.com/)
Location: Traveling Food Truck
Total Rating: 3.95
Food: 4, Price: 4, Service: 4, Ambience: 3, Accessibility: 5
Summary: TaKorean is DC's first and only Korean Taco truck that serves a delicious combination of Korean classic flavors with a Mexican twist. Look for the mobile truck at lunchtime and late night! Or follow them on Twitter.
Truckeroo 2 is going on right now in the Bullpen across from the Navy Yard Metro Station and National's Park. I stopped by to check out some new DC Food Trucks and TaKorean was first on my list. Although when I arrived, they were taking a break, a line soon formed and they opened back up for business. With a friendly greeting, my order was taken and after a couple minutes, the food was ready and fresh. A taco is $3.50 each or get three for $9. I opted to order the day's special of roasted pork along with the bulgogi and chicken (Keith would love to try some too!) with the works. The size and ingredients were very decent. The chicken was tender, however a little bland, and the sriracha sauce was too overpowering. Keith enjoyed the bulgogi steak with kimchi slaw better than the pork. Overall, I enjoyed the taco twist and of all the food trucks, this is one I would order from again.
What I ate:
Tangy Chicken
chicken marinated in sweet chili sauce, ginger and soy
topped with Sriracha sauce, lime crema, fresh cilantro, sesame seeds,
shredded lettuce and cabbage in rice vinegar
all in a corn tortilla
Plus Keith ate:
Bulgogi Steak
thinly sliced ribeye steak marinated in a sweet and spicy soy-based sauce
topped with Sriracha sauce, lime crema, fresh cilantro, sesame seeds,
spicy kimchi slaw all in a corn tortilla
Roasted Pork
shredded and chopped pork marinated in a mild soy-based sauce
topped with Sriracha sauce, lime crema, fresh cilantro, sesame seeds,
spicy kimchi slaw all in a corn tortilla

Taqueria Nacionale
Last date I was here: 06/06/2008
Restaurant: Taqueria Nacionale
Location: Union Station
Total Rating: 3.5
Food: 3, Price: 5, Service: 4, Ambience: 3, Accessibility: 3
Summary: Lunch is where the tacos shine. The taqueria offers beef, pork, chicken, bean and a classic Baja fish taco, each served in an individual box made of recyclable material. The chicken was underwhelming on our visit, but the pork and fish were both juicy and flavorful. They have other items on their menu and daily specials. The homemade traditional drinks are refreshing – I had the Pineapple Agua Fresca. Closest Metro is Union Station.
I expected this place to be a hole in the wall or actual taco stand, however was pleasantly surprised to find an actual eatery with fast service, colorful Mexican décor, and a few tables outside. This spot is only open Monday – Friday from 11-3pm, so it gets crowded. I walked across the street to the fountains outside the Capitol where there are benches to sit in the shade and eat my fish tacos. Although good and cheap, I would stop by if in the area, but would not go out of my way to come again.
What I ate:
Baja Fish Taco
Hunks of Alaskan Pollock with crunchy cabbage and traditional white sauce
Yucca Fries
Served with a delicious sauce
Plus Keith ate:
Chicken Taco, Beef Taco, Pork Taco
Restaurant: Taqueria Nacionale
Location: Union Station
Total Rating: 3.5
